, June 24 -- A Dhaka court on Tuesday granted bail to singer Mainul Ahsan Nobel in a rape case, five days after he married the plaintiff.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehera Mahbub granted him bail on a bond of Tk 1,000.

Nobel was present at the dock during the hearing.

On June 18, Nobel married plaintiff of the case Ishrat Jahan Priya, a third-year student of Eden College, in presence of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nazmin Akter.

Later, a marriage ceremony was held inside the Dhaka Central Jail, Keraniganj.

On May 19, Priya lodged a complaint against Nobel.
