Mumbai, Aug. 17 -- Ravi Shastri was retained as India coach on Friday and his contract extended to the 2021 T20 World Cup in India.

Shastri was unanimously selected by the Board of Control for Cricket in India advisory committee of former India captain Kapil Dev, former coach Anshuman Gaekwad, and former India women's captain, Shanta Rangaswamy.

Also interviewed for the job were former New Zealand coach Mike Hesso, former Sri Lanka coach Tom Moody, former India player Robin Singh, and recent Afghanistan and Zimbabwe coach Lalchand Rajput.

Shastri received the news in the West Indies, where India was on tour and has won the Twenty20 and one-day international series.
