Savar, Dec. 25 -- Security arrangements have been tightened in and around the Savar National Memorial ahead of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman's visit on Friday.

According to the schedule, following Jumma prayers, Tarique Rahman will visit the grave of BNP founder and former president Ziaur Rahman. Later, he is expected to pay tribute to the martyrs of the Liberation War at the National Memorial.

Dhaka District Additional Superintendent of Police Arafatul Islam said security measures have been implemented along the approximately 23-kilometre highway from Dhaka to the memorial. "Plainclothes and uniformed personnel have been deployed to maintain law and order," he added.
