Rajshahi, Jan. 1 -- Police have recovered the hanging body of a female student of Rajshahi University (RU) from a student hostel in Binodpur area of Rajshahi city.

The recovery was made on Wednesday afternoon, police said.

The deceased was identified as Lamisa Nawrin Pushpita, a first-year student of the Department of Islamic History and Culture. She hailed from Jhenaidah district.

Officer-in-charge of Motihar Police Station Abdul Kalam Azad said the student was found hanging from a ceiling fan with a scarf tied around her neck.

On information, police broke open the door of the room and rushed her to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where physicians declared her dead.
