, Feb. 23 -- Mymensingh highway remained suspended for two and half an hour on Sunday as the workers of a garment factory blocked the road at Malekbari in Gazipur district protesting retrenchment.

Witnesses said the workers of That's It Garments Ltd, owned by Ha-Meem Group, took to the street around 10:30 am protesting the retrenchment of 76 workers of the factory.

The vehicular movement on the busy road remained suspended, causing suffering to the commuters.

As the workers found the closure notice on the main gate of the factory they took to the street.

On information, police and army personnel rushed to the spot and requested the workers to leave the highway.
