, May 13 -- The High Court on Tuesday commuted the sentences of 10 convicts in a case filed over the bomb attack at Ramna Batamul that left 10 people dead in 2001.

The HC bench of Justice Mostafa Zaman Islam and Justice Nasrin Akhter handed down the judgement.

The court sentenced Maulana Tajuddin to life term imprisonment commuting his death penalty while upheld the life imprisonment of Shahadat Ullah Jewel.

Ramna Batamul Cases: HC verdict expected any day

The HC also abated the appeal petitions of three convicts as they died during the trial proceedings.

Earlier on May 8, the High Court fixed May 13 for delivering judgment in the case.
