Chuadanga, July 4 -- Rail communication between Khulna and the rest of the country was snapped after a Chuadanga-bound freight train derailed near Utholi railway station in Jibannagar upazila of Chuadanga on Friday.

The derailment occurred on Friday around 5:30 pm on the main line heading towards Darshana, about 100 yards from Utholi station.

Eyewitnesses said that a freight train from Khulna was heading towards Chuadanga. As the train crossed the crossing at Utholi station and entered the main line, one of the last bogies-used as a rest area for railway workers-suddenly derailed.

The incident resulted in the suspension of rail communication with Khulna via other routes across the country.
