, Dec. 5 -- Attorney General (AG) Md Asaduzzaman on Friday said it is "irrelevant" to debate whether BNP acting chairperson Tarique Rahman is a Bangladeshi voter, despite his intention to contest the national election.

"Since he has sought to run in the election, it must be assumed he is a citizen and a voter of Bangladesh," he told reporters after attending the founding anniversary of Haji Kalyan Sangstha at the Shailkupa Government Degree College ground in Jhenaidah.

Responding to a question, the AG said the trial of the July massacre is progressing, and that all necessary measures have been taken to ensure quick justice, leaving no scope for disruption or delay.
