Dhaka, May 13 -- The government has approved the procurement of 1.10 crore (110 million) litres of rice bran oil for its ongoing Open Market Sale (OMS) programme.

The approval came at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP), chaired by Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed. The Ministry of Commerce placed the proposal at the meeting.

According to the proposal, the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will purchase the bulk edible oil from four local firms that secured the contract through an open tender process.

Under the deal, Majumder Products Ltd will supply 50 lakh litres of rice bran oil, while Tamim Agro Industries Ltd, Prodhan Oil Mills Limited, and Green Oil & Poultry Feed Industries will each supply 2...
