Dhaka, April 7 -- People staged strong protests in Dhaka and other parts of the country on Monday condemning the ongoing Israeli attacks on Gaza.

The demonstrators demanded an immediate end to Israeli "barbarity" against Palestinians.

Students from various educational institutions, especially universities, joined the protests in large numbers.

Regular academic activities including classes and exams were closed as students rallied in solidarity with Palestine.

In the capital, students from different departments of Dhaka University and several schools and colleges gathered near the Raju Memorial Sculpture and Aparajeyo Bangla around 11:30 am.
