Cumilla, Aug. 25 -- National Awami Party (NAP) chief Prof Muzaffar Ahmed will be laid to rest at his village home in Debidwar upazila's Elahabad on Sunday.

His body was taken to Cumilla on Saturday night, a day after he died at a Dhaka hospital. The 98-year-old was suffering from old age complications.

Prof Muzaffar was part of the wartime Bangladesh government in exile and a close friend of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

His body was taken to Cumilla Town Hall Ground in the morning. After his third namaz-e-janaza there, his mortal remains will be taken to his village. He will be buried at his family graveyard after his fourth namaz-e-janaza.
