Faridpur, March 14 -- The 49th anniversary of the death of eminent Bangladeshi poet Jasimuddin, widely revered as the "Polli Kobi", is being observed on Friday.
Various programmes, including placing floral wreaths at the graveyard of the poet in Ambikapur area, marked the day.
Faridpur Deputy Commissioner and Jasimuddin Foundation's President Mohammad Kamrul Hasan Mollah, superintendent of police Mohammad Abdul Jalil, and several social and cultural organisations paid tributes to the poet through placing floral wreaths at the grave at around 10am.
Later, a discussion and a prayer programme, organised jointly by district administration and Jasimuddin Foundation, were held on the premise of the poet's house.
