Dhaka, July 29 -- Odisha on Monday received the official recognition from the Geographical Indication of India after its 'Rasagola' received the GI tag. The name of the geographical indication will be read as "Odisha Rasagola". The GI tag of "Odisha Rasagola" will be valid until February 22, 2028, reports India Today.

Earlier, Odisha had moved the geographical indication registry for the GI tag for its own version of Rasagola.

Odisha moved the registry after West Bengal was awarded the geographical indication tag for its 'Banglar Rasagulla' in 2017.

Last year a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was also filed in Odisha High Court seeking geographical indication tag for Odisha's Rasagola.
