, Dec. 20 -- Miscreants set the house of Barrister Anisul Islam Mahmud, president of National Democratic Front (NDF), on fire in Hathazari upazila of Chattogram district on Friday night.

Witnesses said some unidentified people swooped on the residence of Anisul around 11:40 pm and carried out vandalism.

Later, they exploded crude bombs and set the house on fire.

Meanwhile, the miscreants also set a private vehicle, owned by Akbar Haidar Chowdhury, paternal uncle of the NDF leader, on fire.

On information, a firefighting unit rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze.

Kazi Md Tarek Aziz, additional superintendent (Hathazari circle) of Chattogram Police, said police are trying to arrest the arsonists.
