Dhaka, Dec. 23 -- The National Board of Revenue (NBR) on Tuesday announced that all online value-added tax (VAT)-related activities will now be conducted through the eVAT System following the rebranding of the existing iVAS platform.

In a press release, the NBR said the decision was taken to eliminate confusion caused by the similar pronunciation of iVAS (VAT automation system) and iBAS++, the government's integrated budgeting and accounting system.

To ensure greater clarity for taxpayers, businesses and other stakeholders, the iVAS System has been formally renamed as the eVAT System, while all functions, services and operational processes will remain unchanged.
