, July 22 -- The High Court on Tuesday summoned the superintendent of Cumilla Police to appear before court on August 12 and explain his role in the failire to submit the progress report implementing court order in connection with the rape of 25-year-old woman in Muradnagar upazila of Cumilla district.
The HC bench of Justice Fahmida Quader and Justice Sayed Jahed Mansur passed the order after hearing a writ petition.
On June 29, the HC asked the Bangladesh Telecommunication and Regulatory Commission (BTRC) to remove the video footage of the rape of the 25-year-old woman from the social networking site Facebook within 24 hours.
It also asked the authorities to ensure safety and medical treatment of the woman.
