, April 30 -- 'Patkheer', a traditional sweet from Sirajdikhan upazila of Munshiganj' has been officially recognised as a Geographical Indication (GI) product.

The Department of Patents, Designs and Trademarks (DPDT) handed over the GI certificate at an event titled "World Intellectual Property Day Discussion and GI Certificate Award Ceremony" held at the multipurpose hall of the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Wednesday.

Adviser to the Ministry of Industries Adilur Rahman Khan, and Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, jointly handed over the GI certificate to Munshiganj Deputy Commissioner Fatema Tuj Zohra Jannat at the ceremony.
