, Jan. 20 -- Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Central Command Council on Tuesday urged citizens to cast a 'Yes' vote in the upcoming referendum, saying it is crucial for safeguarding democracy, justice and the country's future.

The call came at a press conference where a written statement was read out by freedom fighter Naim Jahangir, convener of the Central Command Council.

He said the July 2024 student-public uprising marked the beginning of a new journey for Bangladesh, proving once again that people are the main driving force of history. "This time, the mass uprising will remove all past obstacles and ensure the ownership of the state by its people," he said.
