Dhaka, Oct. 16 -- listed teachers and staff have warned that if their discussions with the government end without a positive outcome, they will go ahead with their planned "March to Jamuna" programme.
The warning came amid discussion between the government and the representatives of the protesting MPO-listed teachers and staff at the Secretariat on Thursday.
Teachers and employees of private educational institutions under the Monthly Pay Order (MPO) scheme have been demonstrating since Sunday, to press home several demands including a 20% increase in basic pay as house rent (with a minimum of Tk 3,000), Tk 1,500 as medical allowance for both teachers and staff, and an increase in the festival bonus for employees to 75%.
