, Nov. 9 -- year-old boy was killed when a bus ran over him on Khulna-Mongla highway in Katakhali of Fakirhat upazila in Bagerhat district on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Samirul Islam, son of Saiful Islam of Cumilla district.

Samirul along with his parents used to live in Katakhali and worked at a welding workshop.

The accident occurred in the morning when the Dhaka-bound 'Setu Paribahan' hit Samirul while crossing the road, leaving him injured, said Zafor Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Katakhali highway police station.

Later, he was taken to Fakirhat Upazila Health Complex where the doctors declared him dead.

Police seized the bus but could not arrest anyone as the drive managed to flee the scene.
