Meherpur, May 23 -- A mason died after being electrocuted in Gangni upazila of Meherpur district on Friday morning.

The deceased was identified as House Ali, 40, son of Riaz Uddinof Dakshin Bhorat village under the upazila.

Quoting family members, Officer-in-Charge of Gangni police station Bani Israil said the victim came into contact with a live electric wire when he was cutting a wall of his house on the ground floor with a grinder machine around 11 am, leaving him critically injured.

He was rushed to Upazila Health Complex where physicians declared him dead upon arrival, he added.
