Jashore, Jan. 16 -- year-old man was beaten to death by a mob over allegations of theft at Snikantanagar Bazar under Ramnagar Union in Jashore Sadar upazila early Friday.

The deceased was identified as Shamim, son of Chabdu. He was a resident of Baladanga village in the Sadar upazila.

According to police, Shamim allegedly broke into a bKash shop owned by Arafat Hossain at around 2:00am. The shop owner, who had woken up to use the washroom, noticed a person inside the shop through CCTV footage and shouted.

Hearing his screams, local people gathered at the spot, caught Shamim and beat him severely, leaving him critically injured.
