Gopalganj, Sept. 26 -- year-old man has been stung to death by a swarm of hornets while clearing his home yard in preparation for Durga Puja, the largest religious festival of the minority Hindu community, on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Satin Ojha, a resident of Bhangarhat village in Kotalipara upazila of Gopalganj.

Family members said Satin was cleaning bushes around his house in the morning when he unknowingly disturbed a hornet nest around 10:00am.

Soon, a swarm of hornets from his banana grove descended on him. He collapsed on the ground following the attack.

Locals rescued him and took him to the 100-bed Kotalipara Upazila Health Complex. He was declared dead around 4:30pm.
