Sylhet, June 26 -- A man was arrested on Wednesday in connection with the rape of a pregnant woman in the area under Sylhet Airport Police Station.

The arrestee was named as Abdul Halim, 35, son of Dr. Abdul Hekim of Dargabari Rampur, that falls under the jurisdiction of the same police station.

Syed Anisur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sylhet Airport Police Station, said that Halim was apprehended around 3pm on Wednesday in connection with the incident. He will be presented before the court on Thursday.

Meanwhile the victim is currently receiving treatment at the One Stop Crisis Center (OCC) at Sylhet Osmani Medical College and Hospital.

"The investigation of the case is underway," added the OC.
