Dhaka, April 11 -- A light earthquake shook Dhaka and several other parts of the country on Friday afternoon.
According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), the tremor was recorded at 4:53 pm with a magnitude of 4.0 on the Richter scale.
The epicentre was located near the Bangladesh-India border at latitude 24.05degN and longitude 91.37degE, about 105 kilometres east-northeast of the BMD Seismic Centre in Agargaon, Dhaka.
No damage or casualties were reported immediately after the quake.
