, May 3 -- Students of Khulna University staged a demonstration on Friday night as a teacher was physically assaulted allegedly by a former student on the campus.

Witnesses said Hasan Mahmud Saky, a lecturer of History and Civilization Discipline of the university and also the assistant student affairs director, was assaulted allegedly by Abdullah Noman, a former student of the university under 2018 batch, in front of the academic building of the university around 10 pm on Friday.

Later, he was taken to Khulna Medical College and Hospital.

The reason behind the attack could not be known yet.

During the protest, they declared Abdullah Noman persona non grata on campus for life and demanded swift punitive action against him.
