Bangladesh, May 9 -- Students of Jahangirnagar University (JU) staged a rally and blocked Dhaka-Aricha Highway early Friday demanding an immediate ban on Awami League (AL) and its affiliate organisations for their alleged involvement in the mass killings during the July uprising.

The protest began around 1am at the university's Bot Tala area, with the protestors marching through several main roads on campus before taking position on the highway near the main gate.

The students put the blockade on the road for around 30 minutes while the traffic resumed around 2am upon their departure.
