Rangpur, July 31 -- A local leader of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Wednesday night, eight days after he was stabbed allegedly by a relative over a land-related dispute in Kaunia upazila of Rangpur.
The deceased was identified as Humayun Ahmed, 25, son of Zohurul Haque of Binodon Majhi village in the upazila. He was the organizing secretary of the JCD's Tepamadhupur union unit.
According to police and locals, Zohurul had mortgaged a piece of land to his cousin Mohir Uddin, a resident of the same village.
Later, Mohir allegedly remortgaged the land to another party for a higher amount, triggering a dispute.
