Dhaka, July 16 -- The Dhaka Metropolitan North unit of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami staged a protest rally on Wednesday afternoon, condemning the attack on leaders of the National Citizen Party (NCP) in Gopalganj earlier in the day.

The rally was led by Jamaat Central Executive Council member and Dhaka Metropolitan North Ameer Mohammad Selim Uddin, the party said in a press release.

Addressing the gathering in the capital's Mirpur, Mohammad Selim Uddin said that Gopalganj has been drenched in blood due to the repeated failures of the government and the Home Ministry.

"The terrorists dared to carry out such a brutal attack because they were not arrested," he added.
