Dhaka, July 3 -- The government has dropped the previously announced symbolic 'One-Minute Internet Blackout' programme which was part of the upcoming July Commemoration events, Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki has said.

In a post from his verified Facebook account on Thursday, Farooki disclosed the decision saying there had been internal debates from the beginning regarding this specific initiative.

"From the start, we had mixed feelings about one particular segment of the July commemoration programmes. We excluded and included the 'one-minute internet blackout' several times. It might not be a very good idea," he writes.
