, Sept. 8 -- Stock markets in Dhaka and Chattogram witnessed an uptrend in the first half of Monday's trading, with most company shares gaining in price and the key indices showing positive movement.

During the first hour of trading, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) benchmark index, DSEX, rose by 25 points.

The Shariah-based index, DSES, gained 6 points while the blue-chip index, DS30, advanced by 8 points.

Of the issues traded, 205 advanced, 122 declined and 62 remained unchanged.

Shares and units worth over Tk 500 crore changed hands at the DSE during the period.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also saw gains, with the overall index climbing 54 points in the first hour.
