Dhaka, May 7 -- India on Wednesday launched strikes on what it describes as terrorist targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. The operation - Operation Sindoor - reportedly struck nine locations in response to a recent militant attack on tourists in Indian-administered Kashmir.

In a statement, the Indian government described the operation as "focused, measured, and non-escalatory," stressing that no Pakistani military installations were targeted.

"India has demonstrated considerable restraint in selection of targets and method of execution," the statement read.
