Dhaka, Jan. 5 -- Leaders of Minimum Wage and Labour Law Implementation Sangram Parishad for hotel and restaurant workers on Monday warned that hotel and restaurant employees would go on strike on January 14 if the government-declared minimum wage is not enforced by January 13.

Akteruzzaman Khan, convenor of the Sangram Parishad, issued the strike threat at a press conference held at the Jatiya Press Club.

The government had announced a minimum wage of Tk 13,050 for hotel and restaurant workers on May 5.

Despite the gazette notification, most hotels and restaurants across the country have yet to implement it, they said.
