, Aug. 14 -- Authorities at 15 garment factories at Ashulia of Savar on Thursday declared a day off for the workers after protests erupted at a nearby factory to demand payment of arrear wages, said an Industrial Police official.

The move came after angry workers of Nasa Basic Complex of Nasa Group blocked the Baipail-Abdullahpur road for three hours demanding payment of their overdue wages, said the police.

The workers took to the street at around 8:30 am halting traffic, said Mohammad Mominul Islam Bhuiya, superintendent of Industrial Police.
