Gopalganj, July 17 -- The Gopalganj administration has extended the ongoing curfew for 22 hours till 6pm on Friday, with a two-hour of pause from 12 pm to 2pm, to maintain law and order in the district following Wednesday's violent clashes that left four dead and over 50 people injured.

District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner of the district Muhammad Kamruzzaman extended it just before the first spell of the 22-hour curfew that expires.

Although the curfew will be relaxed for two hours, the administration did not specify the reason, though it is believed to be in consideration of Jumma prayers.
