Fresh flood, erosion hit Kurigram, Madaripur hard

Bangladesh, Aug. 2 -- Fresh flood and severe erosion have intensified sufferings of people in Kurigram and Madaripur districts.
Low lying areas of many chars have been submerged in Kurigram as Brahmaputra and Dharla Rivers started to swell again thanks to heavy downpour and onrush of water coming from upstream.
The Brahmaputra was flowing 29cm above the danger point at Chilmari point while Dharla was above 45cm at Bridge point Sunday morning.
Low lying areas of over a hundred of chars in the district were inundated, causing sufferings to people - already devastated by earlier spells of flood.
Over 3.5 lakh people are still marooned in the district with dire need of food and necessary assistance.
