Dhaka, Sept. 24 -- A Dhaka court on Wednesday placed former Food Minister Advocate Qamrul Islam on a five-day remand in a case over killing jhut trader Monir during July uprising.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sadiqur Rahman passed the order when assistant sub-inspector of Shahbagh Police Station Mainul Islam produced him before the court with a 10-day remand prayer.

Additional Public Prosecutor Advocate Muhammad Samsuddoha stood for the petitioner while Advocate Aftab Mahmud Chowdhury filed a petition challenging the remand prayer for his client.
