, Sept. 2 -- Police arrested a former personal assistant in connection with the murder of Dr. Amirul Islam in Natore on Tuesday.
The arrestee was identified as Asad, son of Ilias Akand of Elachgram village of Dhunat upazila, Bogura.
Dr Islam was a leader of the Doctors Association of Bangladesh, or DAB, a platform of doctors aligned with the BNP in national politics.
Superintendent of Police Amzad Hossain informed that the doctor had a dispute with his former personal assistant, Asad, over Asad's girlfriend, a nurse, which prompted him to dismiss Asad from his position. It is suspected the three of them were in a love triangle.
