Narsingdi, July 4 -- More than 50 shops, including 10 jewelry outlets, were gutted in a devastating fire at Muripatti of Madhabdi Bazar in Narsingdi district Friday morning.
Witnesses said the fire erupted from one of the shops around 5 am and spread fast engulfing adjacent shops within a short time.
Seeing this, an announcement from Madhabdi's central mosque was made urging locals to come forward to douse the flame.
On information, five firefighting units from Madhabdi, Narsingdi Sadar and Palash upazils stations rushed to the spot and doused the blaze after around four hours of frantic efforts.
