Dhaka, May 3 -- The fire that broke out on the top floor of a multi-storey building in the capital's Purana Paltan on Saturday night was brought under control after four hours of efforts.
Seven firefighting units brought the fire under control at 12:25 am, said Anwarul Islam, warehouse inspector at the FSCD headquarters media cell, while briefing reporters around 1.30am (Sunday).
He said that there was a tin-shed room on the roof of the building that was full of electronic equipment, and there was no ventilation system.
As a result, we struggled to control the blaze, Anwarul added.
"We have successfully controlled the fire but it will take some more time to fully douse the blaze," he said.
