Dhaka, March 11 -- The family of Engineer SM Golam Mortuza, a real estate developer, has protested his arrest in what they claim is a false and conspiratorial case related to the July-August student uprising.

They have also demanded his immediate release.

At a press conference held at the Sagar Runi Auditorium of the Dhaka Reporters Unity in the city on Tuesday, Mortuza's wife, Nadira Mortuza, Principal of BAK Model Academy, accused a group of criminals, motivated by envy, of fabricating the charges against her husband.

He further claimed that even after his arrest, her family continues to receive threats from miscreants.
