Bangladesh, Nov. 28 -- About 43 per cent of Bangladeshi female workers in the ready garments (RMG) sector are victims of malnutrition, but nutrition interventions can improve their wellbeing and productivity, speakers said at a seminar Sunday.

Malnutrition can cut the productivity and working capacity of workers by up to 20 per cent if it is not addressed, they said at the seminar "Workforce Nutrition: Learning Dissemination Seminar" at a city hotel.

The Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments (DIFE) organised the event with the support of the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), a Switzerland-based international organisation.
