Shariatpur, Aug. 28 -- A former Swechchhasebak League leader in Naria upazila has been accused of snatching five suspects from the custody of a mobile court.

Mostofa Sikdar, the Swechchhasebak League leader in question, and his brother Sumon Sikdar reportedly obstructed the mobile court led by Executive Magistrate and Naria Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Rasheduzzaman around 2:30pm at the launch terminal.

The mobile court was at the launch terminal after arresting eight people for illegal sand lifting from Padma River and seizing a sand extracting machine, police and administration sources said.
