, Jan. 30 -- A Dhaka court on Thursday sentenced Mizanur Rahman, former Member of Parliament for Khulna-2, to eight years in prison for amassing wealth beyond his known sources of income.

Judge Muhammad Abu Taher of Dhaka Special Judge Court-3 delivered the verdict after hearing arguments from both the prosecution and defense.

Mir Ahmed Ali Salam, prosecutor for the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), said the court found Mizanur guilty under two sections of the case, sentencing him to a total of eight years behind bars.
