Chattogram, Feb. 12 -- Former Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) Commissioner Saiful Islam has been arrested in a murder case in Dhaka.

Additional Commissioner of the CMP Humayun Kabir said a police team from Chattogram arrested Saiful on Wednesday noon.

Arrestee Saiful will be produced before a Chattogram court, he said.

During the anti-government movement, a student was killed in Chandgaon area of the port city.

Later a case was filed against him.

Joining the Bangladesh Civil Service through the 20th Batch BCS, he performed duty as deputy inspector general at Dhaka Metro Rail.

He was assigned as the 32nd CMP commissioner on June 23 last year.
