, June 29 -- A Dhaka court on Sunday sent former Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal to jail in a case filed over committing irregularities including sedition.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate GM Farhan Ishtiak passed the order after rejecting his bail petition.
After completion of this three-day remand, investigating officer of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Syed Sajedur Rahman produced Awal before the court.
The Dhaka court on June 26 placed Awal on a three-day remand in the case.
A team of DB police arrested Awal from the Moghbazar area on June 25.
Earlier on June 22, police arrested former CEC KM Nurul Huda from Uttara area of Dhaka.
