, June 1 -- Eminent academic, journalist and researcher Dr Anwarul Karim passed away following a cardiac arrest at a city hotel on Saturday. He was 88.
Dr Karim, who had long been suffering from age-related complications, breathed his last at Universal Hospital in Mohakhali at 12:10pm on the day, his daughter Sultana Afroj said.
He is survived by two sons, one daughter and a host of relatives, friends and admirers.
Dr Karim was laid to rest at the Kushtia Pourashava graveyard around 10:30pm on Saturday following his third namaz-e-janaza. The first janaza was held at Azad Mosque in Gulshan, followed by a second one at Banani Mosque.
