Dhaka, March 10 -- Dr Anisuzzaman Chowdhury, an economics professor better known as Anis Chowdhury, has been appointed as a special assistant to Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus.

The Cabinet Division issued a notification in this regard on Monday.

Dr. Anisuzzaman has been appointed as Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser with the rank of a state minister, it said. That means he will get the salary and other benefits equivalent to the rank of a state minister.

He has also been given executive powers at the Ministry of Finance.
