Dhaka, Jan. 5 -- Chancellor of Dhaka University (DU) Professor Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan on Monday evening met BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman at the BNP Chairperson's office in Gulshan.

During the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor expressed deep condolences over the death of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, describing her as a "symbol of national unity".

He also prayed for the salvation of her departed soul and conveyed his sympathy to Tarique Rahman and other family members.

The meeting was part of the Vice-Chancellor's ongoing dialogue with leaders of various political parties and other key stakeholders to discuss the stability and overall environment of Dhaka University in view of the upcoming national election.
