, Jan. 9 -- making body of University of Dhaka, the Syndicate, has recommended renaming Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall as Shaheed Osman Hadi Hall and removing the names of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's family members from five university facilities.

The recommendation was made at a Syndicate meeting held on Thursday, chaired by Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Niaz Ahmed Khan.

According to the decision, Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall will be renamed Bir Protik Captain Setara Begum Hall, while Athletes Sultana Kamal Hostel will be renamed after Bir Protik Captain Taramon Bibi. In addition, the names of two staff residential buildings-Russell Tower and Bangabandhu Tower-are also recommended to be changed.
